Fulltime 40h/week - permanent contract
Backend Developer with a background in applied mathematics
Do you want to join us in solving the ever-increasing traffic problems and reduce its negative impacts on our wellbeing and environment? You are familiar with solving large scale discrete optimization problems using either exact methods or metaheuristics. Acronyms such as TSP, CVRPTW, PDP or DARP are no strangers to you. Then you might just be the perfect candidate to expand our IT team.
You will be part of our team of experienced software developers. Using state of the art software development tools such as git, automated testing, bug trackers, CI, debuggers etc. should be your standard approach.
Your responsibilities will include extending existing optimization code, testing its runtime performance and solution quality, prototyping and implementing your own ideas or ones taken from scientific literature. Our software stack is mainly based on java, typescript, prolog but python is welcome as well. You will also contribute to our web application if required and should have a foundation in backend web (java, play framework) technologies and relational databases (postgres, postgis).
Since we operate in a highly competitive market, being reactive to new requirements is of great importance. We expect you to be curious about new technologies and state of the art in the field of demand responsive transportation. You should question dubious decisions and be proactive in suggesting changes to the benefit of your colleagues and our customers.
